- To encourage students to join in a discussion 
- To develop students’ writing skills 
- To train learners to spend time planning before they write.

- To develop students’ awareness of vocabulary features (chunks, suffixes)
- To help students discover some ways to record vocabulary

- To interview others to complete a survey and summarise findings in a report 
- To develop questionnaires on current behaviour using present perfect forms 
- To understand the actions learners can take to reduce their impact on climate 
change.
